There is something special about a music festival that manages to bring together different generations, genres, and cultures under one roof — or, in this case, under the Johannesburg sky. Parklive Jozi 2026 at Marks Park delivered exactly that, creating an energetic celebration of music that showcased some of South Africa’s most exciting artists alongside incredible international talent. From the moment I arrived, there was a real sense of anticipation in the air. Parklive Jozi has established itself as an important fixture on Johannesburg’s music calendar, and this year’s festival once again demonstrated why audiences continue to show up for a day filled with great music, entertainment, and community.
A Lineup Without Borders
One of the biggest highlights of Parklive Jozi 2026 was the way the lineup crossed both genres and international borders. South Africa was strongly represented by artists including Rowlene, Will Linley, Matthew Mole, Nasty C and Elaine, while international acts brought their own unique sounds to the Johannesburg stage. From Canada, Neon Dreams added their alternative-pop energy to the festival, while New Zealand was represented by SIX60 and Teeks. The UK’s Good Neighbours also brought their infectious sound to the Parklive audience.
Each artist brought something different to the festival, making the experience feel like a musical journey rather than simply a series of performances. From pop and alternative sounds to hip-hop, soul and contemporary R&B, there was something for almost every music lover.
It was particularly exciting to see how naturally these different sounds came together on one festival bill. That ability to move between genres and countries is what makes events like Parklive Jozi so valuable to the local music landscape.
Connecting Beyond the Stage
For me, festivals are about more than just watching performances. They are also about the people you meet, the conversations you have and the relationships you build within the entertainment industry. One of the sponsors of Parklive Jozi was Jacaranda FM, and it was fantastic to connect with one of the station’s much-loved hosts, Danny Painter, while she was enjoying some time away from the stage and not in MC mode. It is always great to see media personalities outside of their usual working environment and simply enjoying the music and festival experience themselves. Danny brought her usual warmth and energy, and catching up with her added another memorable moment to the day.
I also had the opportunity to chat with Rowlene (in the picture) and Matthew Mole while they were in the audience. Seeing artists enjoying the festival as fans themselves is always a reminder that, regardless of whether you are on stage or in the crowd, great music connects everyone.
South African Talent Shining
South Africa continues to produce an incredible range of musical talent, and Parklive Jozi provided a fantastic platform to showcase that diversity. Rowlene brought her distinctive artistry, while Will Linley continued to demonstrate why he has become one of the exciting young voices in South African pop. Matthew Mole represented the country’s singer-songwriter tradition, while Elaine delivered the soulful R&B sound that has made her such a standout artist. Then there was Nasty C, whose presence brought a different energy to the festival and highlighted the international reach of South African hip-hop. Having artists with such different musical identities on the same stage is a powerful reminder of just how broad and exciting the South African music scene has become.
International Flavour
The international acts added another layer to the festival. Neon Dreams from Canada brought their alternative sound to Johannesburg, while SIX60 represented New Zealand with their own distinctive musical identity. Fellow New Zealand artist Teeks brought his soulful and emotive style to the festival, connecting with the audience through the kind of music that transcends borders. The UK’s Good Neighbours were another welcome addition, proving that a great festival lineup can introduce audiences to artists they may not otherwise have had the opportunity to experience live. This mixture of local and international artists is one of Parklive Jozi’s strengths. It creates opportunities for South African audiences to discover global sounds while allowing international performers to experience the incredible energy of a Johannesburg crowd.

What stood out to me most about Parklive Jozi 2026 was the atmosphere. A successful festival is about more than putting great artists on a stage. It is about creating an environment where people can come together, discover music, spend time with friends, meet artists and industry colleagues, and simply enjoy being part of something bigger. Marks Park provided the perfect setting for that experience, with the festival bringing together music lovers from different backgrounds for a day of entertainment and connection. As someone who spends a great deal of time interviewing artists and covering events, I always appreciate the opportunity to experience the industry from a slightly different perspective — not just standing in front of a microphone, but also having those informal conversations and seeing artists, media and audiences enjoying the same experience.
A Huge Shout-Out to the Team
A massive shout-out to the Breakout Events team for putting together another brilliant music festival. Events of this scale require an enormous amount of planning, coordination, and behind-the-scenes work, and when everything comes together seamlessly, the audience gets to experience what looks like effortless entertainment. And, of course, a special shout-out to PR rockstar Melissa Conradie for once again being such an incredible force behind another fantastic music festival. The combination of a strong lineup, great production, passionate teams, and an audience ready to celebrate music made Parklive Jozi 2026 another memorable addition to Johannesburg’s entertainment calendar.
Parklive Jozi 2026 was a celebration of everything that makes live music so powerful — local talent, international sounds, different genres, unexpected connections, and the shared experience of enjoying music together.
